The construction materials sector is comprised of five main sectors: building stones manufacturing, tiles manufacturing, cement blocks manufacturing, stone and cement pipes. The sector is one of the oldest and most traditional in the West Bank cities of Tulkarim, Jenin, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem and Hebron.

Building Stone: a traditional industrial sector which manufactures building stones and cement blocks. It also manufactures pavement stones. The sector has started as a manual family business and has developed greatly since. Currently it is one of the most famous construction materials industry sectors and is highly competitive with the Israeli industry.

Tiles: Also one of the traditional widely spread sectors. The sector currently produces tiles for houses, pavements and yards. It's comprised of modern and mechanized factories and produces a high quality and globally competitive product.

Cement production: A relatively new sector in comparison with other construction materials industry. However, it is a mechanized and modern sector and is considered one of the most advanced industries in the sector.

Raw materials production: this industry fragment includes the manufacturing of all equipment and material used in the construction industry. It is a priority sector of development given its high valuable to the entire industry.

Cement pipes production: a relatively new sector. It produces cement pipe of various types and purposes including water and sewage pipe. This industry is still small and requires further development.

INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTIONS UNION

The Industrial Constructions Union was established in June 1997 and currently has 30 members. The Union is striving to expand its membership to include all workshops and factories in the sector.

The main objectives of the Union are:

• Cooperation with the public sector to develop the industry

• Representation of the industry in local and international forums

• Promotion of the local industry with the aim of increasing local market share.

• Providing technical assistance and advice to members on export and development of industry
