The International Labor Organization, in cooperation with the Palestinian Trade Center (PalTrade) and the Jordanian Association for Cut Flowers and Ornamental Plants, held a training workshop entitled "Post Harvesting Process of the Cut Flowers Industry."

The training workshop aimed to build the capacity of flower producers in various fields concerned with post-harvesting and export, including grading, packaging and shipping flowers to international markets, with a focus on export potential and ways of tapping into new export markets.

The project coordinator of the "Decent Work in the Jordan's Floriculture Sector" project Maysoon Al-Remawi praised the role of the Palestinian Trade Center and the Jordanian Association for Cut Flowers and Ornamental Plants and the efforts they make to support farmers and producers in the floriculture sector.

Ruwa Jaber, PalTrade CEO, welcomed the cooperation between PalTrade and the ILO, stressing the role of the Palestinian Trade Center in supporting the development and promotion of exports for both Palestinian and Jordanian producers.

This training workshop falls within efforts by the ILO towards improving the competitiveness and export capacity of the Jordanian cut flower producers in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Labour, the Jordanian Association for Cut Flowers and Ornamental Plants, and PalTrade.

ILO is implementing the ‘Decent Work in Jordan’s Floriculture Sector’ project with the support of the Australian Government. The project includes a number of activities aimed at improving the employability of the most vulnerable Jordanian beneficiaries and Syrian refugees in the floricultural sector in Jordan and creating decent job opportunities, in addition, to improving competitiveness and productivity in the sector.
