Mrs. Taha, as the CEO, has contributed to the achievement of PalTrade's corporate vision and mission, which is focused on driving business growth through a competitive, enabling business environment; she is dedicated to improving trade competitiveness through export promotion and capacity building.
Mrs. Taha has over eighteen years of professional experience working in the Palestinian private sector. Within PalTrade she has managed a significant number of global operational staff in the areas of trade policy and export development, and trade information. She has over 10 years of experience in the areas of planning and implementation of fundraising activities, organizational strategy development and securing funds for programs that meet the objectives of an organization’s strategic plan.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Cambridge Tutorial College in modern management/administration and another bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
OSAMA ABU ALI
Director of Export Promotion Department
Osama Abu Ali is the Export Promotion Department Director here at PalTrade. Mr. Ali is an integral part of our organization, where he served at different positions here for the past 12 years. Mr. Ali graduated from the American University in Cairo, in 1991 with a B.A in economics. His vast work experience include many years of work with both the private and public sectors, in addition to a great level of involvement with NGO’s. Mr. Ali is a highly trained professional that has received accreditation from conferences around the world.
Mr. Abu Ali was the Olive Oil Export Promotion project manager at PalTrade from 2008 until 2012 where he designed, managed, and monitored the implementation of the overall project strategy. During that period, he was also assigned the role of Olive Oil Industry Advisor, where he developed a unified branding strategy for Palestinian olive oil exporters and implemented management / marketing assessment strategies for olive oil exporting companies.
As the Director of the Export Promotion Department, Mr. Ali’s responsibilities include designing and supervising export promotion, and branding strategies for participating companies, in addition to advising PalTrade’s member companies regarding participation in international and regional exhibitions. Mr. Abu Ali has supervised several projects at the department since he joined in 2012. His duties comprise of supervising and monitoring of company participants in trade fairs, and ensuring their compliance with all exhibit regulations and deadlines.
Director of Trade Policy Department
Mr Makhtoub is the Director of the Trade Policy department at PalTrade and a member of the WTO Technical Advisory team. Mr. Makhtoob is a specialist in trade and industrial policies. Mr. Makhtoob has extensive knowledge of public and private sector institutions. He was involved in the industrial development department in the Ministry of Industry and the trade development and promotion department in the Ministry of National Economy. Mr. Makhtoub also worked for the Palestinian Federation of Industries as sector and policy manager and the Private Sector Coordination Council as an economic policy consultant where he provided a comprehensive and clear cut picture of Palestinian enterprises’ needs and developmental strategies.
Mr. Makhtoob leads the formulation of many strategies and business plans for many national and international agencies/companies from different economic sectors such as the Leather and Shoes Association, Paper Industries Union, Engineering and Metal Union, Palestinian Network for Small and Microfinance (Sharakeh), The Portland Trust, United Nation Relief and Works Agency, and the Palestinian Importers Association . Mr Makhtoob was also involved in formulating the National Sector Strategy for Economic Development, the Solid Waste Sector Strategy, and the EU – Palestine Action Plan for the next 3 year which included the review of nearly all government and private sector strategies.
Mr Makhtoob has developed a unique development approach of with a keen focus on social and environmental affairs as key factors in sustainable socioeconomic development. He is a member in the AIX Group and a co-author of many publications including “The Economic Development of the Jordan Valley” and “The Union for the Mediterranean: The Barcelona Process and the Two State Solution”.
Director of Export Development and Market Intelligence Department
As the Dirctor of the Export Development and Market Intelligence Department at PalTrade, Mrs. Ruwa’ Jabr Tafesh is an asset to our organization. A native of Jerusalem, Ruwa’ is a graduate of al-Quds University in Jerusalem, where she earned her B.Sc. She earned her MBA in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), USA in cooperation with the Arab American University in Palestine. She is fluent in Arabic, her native tongue, and English.
Despite her relatively young age, Mrs. Jabr’s career is wealthy in both experience and involvement. Her career took Ruwa’ first to Ramallah, where she worked as the supervisor of the Development Studies Programme. Later, she managed several projects and programmes in local NGOs. A passionate and inspiring leader, Mrs. Jaber took on several managing positions in various international NGO’s including Oxfam, coordinating with offices in both Belgium and Canada.
She finally joined PalTrade in the summer of 2014, adding her expertise to our already above-par personnel. As the Export Development and Market Intelligence Director, Ruwa leads projects that aim to increase export opportunities for Palestinian businesses, especially those run by women. Her work also targets increasing income generating potentials in the West Bank.
Mohammed Skaik has been appointed as Gaza Programs Manager at PalTrade in March of 2012. Over the last eight years, Mr. Skaik has held several positions in PalTrade. Prior to his current position he was a Trade Policy Officer.
Mr. Skaik has accumulated a wide range of experiences in private sector institutions, companies and trade crossings in Palestine. This experience has ranged from working on the ground, to monitoring and evaluating the performance of trade crossings, to drafting trade policies and designing and managing the implementation of trade policy projects.
Over his career Mr. Skaik has developed high level technical capabilities and skills. His technical areas of expertise include statistical analysis, econometrics, and feasibility studies; he has also developed a network of contacts within the Palestinian business community, Palestinian Authority, and International Organizations and related agencies working in the West Bank and Gaza. Mr. Skaik has obtained both his MSc and BA in the Fields of Economics.
